A resume is very critical in job search. It creates the first impression and may or may not convert the job application into an interview. Where technology is changing rapidly, the need for acquiring new and updated talent has become extremely important, Thus HR managers face time pressure and are expected to give good results within a short span of time. An online resume should preferably be tailor-made according to the specific job requirements. As a hardcopy cannot be changed every time, the functional benefit of an online resume is that it can be altered or suited according to the requirements of different jobs and vacancies. While crafting an online resume for thorough and effective job search, avoid simply mentioning your chronological listing of experiences and qualifications. Rather opt for selective listing which is carefully ordered. Moreover the resume should include all the relevant and necessary information which is visually appealing and is in an easily readable format.

The work experience should include the employer’s name, designation, job duration and job description or working profile. Job search for suitable vacancies for experience more than ten years are confidential and should be dealt very carefully. The senior management personnel should avoid mentioning their names and personal details in the initial communication process. Candidates, who wish to seek high profile and senior level jobs should avoid mentioning current employer’s details, though they can highlight their work exposure and job acquisitions. Before submitting the online resume the candidate should first enquire in detail, about the job in quest, and should apply after being satisfied.
