The easiest way to gauge your talents as a resume maker is to look at your current salary. If you’re not happy with it, then let’s make a change. All you have to do is put these 3 strategies in effect to make sure your cashing in on your talents to your potential.
Strategy #1 – Tighten up your resume
The fact is that only the best brand of resume maker gets the cushy jobs. Those that can accurately describe what they bring to the table in a compelling way are the sweethearts of hiring managers and bosses alike. And this is, of course, done with an effective resume
Putting together an effective resume isn’t rocket science. As they say, “the devil is in the details”. Here’s some things you want to tighten up as you go through the resume maker process:
- Spelling and grammar – This is the fastest way to blow your interview to smithereens. With the technology we all have at our disposal, making mindless spelling mistakes is inexcusable and shows a lack of focus. Not a great way to open a relationship with a potential employer.
- Length – Nobody wants to read a novel when they don’t know the author. Don’t expect the hiring manager to be any different. Stick the the main points: Who you are, what you do, and why you’re right for the job you’re applying for.
- Targeting – The job market is just like any other market. Your employer wants to feel that you care enough about the position to do some research ahead of time. Most of this will come out during the interview, but to even get an interview it makes sense to tailer-write each resume for the receiving recipient.
Strategy #2 – Bait Bigger Fish
It’s easy to feel unqualified after reading some of the job descriptions you’ll come across. Don’t let this be the case for you; those that land the best jobs are the ones that shoot for the stars.
At the very least, you’ll learn about the skill sets you need to develop to be a serious candidate for that particular job offering. Once you pick up that skill set (which you will if you really want that job), you’ll already have a foot in the door. Plus, your determination and commitment won’t go unnoticed by your potential employer.
Strategy #3 – Make offers
No matter how good your resume writing talents are, if you’re not putting your resume in front of anybody it isn’t likely you’ll land that dream job. Remember, being comfortable is a dream killer. Keep striving!
What this means in real terms is to send out a new offer at least twice a month if you currently have a job. If you’re unemployed you should be sending out resumes in a crazed frenzy. The more offers you make, the better your chances of landing one.
These are the basics, and all you’ll need in your quest for higher pay, better benefits and easier hours. Use these strategies in your resume, and you will be on your way to landing that job you’ve always wanted. See you at the top!
